3rd INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON SHEIKH SABAN-I VELI

“Scolarly Life and Scholars in Kastamonu”

 

3rd International Symposium on Sheikh Saban-ı Veli (ScolarlyLife and Scholars in Kastamonu) will be held from May 6th to 8th 2016 by Kastamonu University Faculty of Theology in Kastamonu.

SYMPOSIUM FRAMEWORK

That heritage of science, thinking and education produced on the lands where we live and to be given to next generations contributes a lot to the problems we encounter today is appreciated. On the other hand, this heritage will provide opportunities to the analysis of the future. The attitude that we have showed for the last ages, “turning our faces to outer world, starts to change as the attitude of being ware of our heritage.

In this sense, searching the potential opportunities of our science heritage, benefiting from the examining and searching, knowing the people having roles in creating the heritage have become prominent missions of scientific community.

It has been thought to organize a symposium on Scolarly Life and Scholars in Kastamonu to own inheritance of Islamic philosophy since Sheik Saban-ı Veli and introduce their lives and works to the public. In this symposium, it will be our main purpose to discuss and analyze various dimensions such as; lives of Scolarly Life and Scholars, their works, approaches to religion, missions, approaches to philosophy, and experiences on different disciplines, intellectual interests and approaches.

We expect great contribution of scholars from different disciplines and valuable intellectuals to this symposium held by Faculty of Theology undercover of Kastamonu University.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

The language of symposium is Turkish. English and Arabic papers will be translated into Turkish in the symposium.

The abstracts should be sent via e-mail by using Abstract Form. The participants should also send their CV with Abstract Form.

 

PAPER GUIDELINES (RULES)

The methods and principals of papers to be presented in a scientific meeting are certain. It is must that the papers should not be presented or published in another journal or meeting. The papers should contain scientific, original information and a new synthesis. The paper guidelines can be seen below. The preparation of papers according to these guidelines is so important because of the fact that book of symposium can be published as soon as possible.

 Paper Guidelines

  1. Writings should be in A4 size. Margins should be set for 2,5cm at the top and bottom, 2,5cm on the left and right. 2cm margin should be set at the top in the first page.
  2.  Writings should be written on PC by using Microsoft Word program, 11-point typeface Times New Roman font and one line height. Abstracts should be in 10-point typeface. Tables, pictures, figures and footnotes should be in 9-point typeface. The reference list should be written in hanging indents (1,0cm margin ahead) and 10 point typeface.
  3. The title of the paper must be written in 14 point with capital letters at the center. Beneath the Turkish title, foreign title is written, only the initial letters are capitalized. If the paper is in English, under the foreign title, Turkish title is written with initial letters capitalized. It should be 12 point spaces before a heading within the text and 6 points paces after it.
  4. Author’s name without academic title should be written after headline with 12-point space and centered on the page. Academic title, the institution and e-mail address should be indicated as footnote.
  5. If the study carried out with the support of any institution, the institution’s name should be indicated as a footnote at the bottom of the first page.
  6. An abstract in Turkish and English will be written after the author's name with 12 point space and not exceeding 150 words, also the keywords which describe the main subject of the article will be stated in this abstract.
  7. Although there is not a page limit; papers should not exceed 20 pages including table, figure, pictures and reference list. Total size of article should not exceed 5mb.
  8. Figures, tables and pictures should be prepared in digital and shown in the text or at the end of the page without exceeding page dimensions (14x20cm). Pictures and figures in the text should be in low resolution.
  9. Tables, figures and any appendices in the text should be numbered and entitled.
  10. Cited references in the text should be written according to APA style. Author’s surname, publication year and page number should be indicated in parenthesis. For example (Genç: 2000, 123). Clarifications should be indicated as footnote at the bottom of the page. Same rules are valid for also verbal sources.
  11. All resources cited in the text should be alphabetized according to author’s surname in the reference list at the end of the paper. Rotation number should not be put in front of the references and other bibliography rules are valid.
